Chairman’s Report 2018-2019

(for AGM 21 Sept 2019)

Hello all,

Welcome to the Annual General Meeting of the 11th Light Horse Caboolture Troop and Museum Association Inc.

I offer this President’s report for inclusion in the minutes together with my apologies for my absence due to work. As you are aware my occupation as an Ambulance Officer has impacted on my participation and attendance at various meetings and events through-out the past year.

Over the past year The Troop has had some considerable achievements together with some sombre moments. The most notable of which was when we farewelled a long serving member and certainly one of our most stalwart Hugh Collins. His presence at many events and meetings is missed by many as he was actively involved in a number of re-enacting groups.

The passing of Past President Ivan Wall, a Life Member and stalwart for many years was a sad event.  We shall miss his Bush Poetry.

We have also seen continued improvement to the displays with the addition of the vault and compliance with changes to various laws etc. Many thanks to Keith Nix for much of the organisation of this and the associated fund-raising. Of course thank you to all who have assisted Keith in these endeavours.

Representatives of The Troop have again participated or merely represented The Troop at various events in the local or Re-enacting community. Of particular note was the Commemoration of Armistice held at Scarborough on 10 November 2018. This event was part of the Centenary of the Great War (1914-1918) and was attended by many of our members, who provided a static display or were involved in the encampment display with a number of other groups.

In the future The Troop will continue to adapt to changes in laws and legislation such as the current review of Weapons Licensing which I understand includes a review of the Collectors, MR1 & MR3 endorsements. Keith Nix is currently involved in this review on our behalf.

Finally I wish to advise that I am NOT seeking re-election to this position nor am I willing to accept any other within The Troop due to the impacts of my employment.

In closing I feel The Troop can look forward to many more successful years and I thank-you for your support over the past 2 years.
