Queensland Defence Force – 160th Anniversary Parade

Queensland Mounted Infantry Historical Troop, (QMIHT) are seeking Expressions of Interest from Light Horse re-enactment and historical troops to participate in a ceremonial parade that is currently being planned for March 2020. The parade commemorate the establishment of the Queensland Defence Force in 1860, which is the antecedent of Queensland Mounted Infantry and the later formation of Light Horse Regiments of Queensland.
The proposal being developed will commence at o where participants will initially meet and undertake familiarisation and training, the actual parade will commence with a mounted ride from Victoria Park through the city to Old Government House at Queensland University of Technology (QUT), then return to Victoria Park a distance of approximately 11 Km. The ceremonial mounted parade will commence following the city ride and will reviewed by a VIP guest.
It is anticipated the parade will comprise of 100 horses and riders, plus other participants including the Queensland Police Mounted Unit and the Australian Defence Force (all subject to ongoing negotiation and approval) plus other participants.
The proposed dates for the activity are from 6 March 2020 to 8 March 2020. Accomodation, meals and facilities will be provided by QMIHT, costs will be the responsibility of participants, further details will be provided in the near future. Detailed instructions regarding the management, organisation and administrative components will be forwarded to participants separately.
