Museum History

In 1992 an understanding was reached with the Caboolture Historical Society to build a small but significant military museum within the grounds of the Caboolture Historical village.

The 11th Light Horse Military Museum was formally opened on Anzac Day, 25 April 1992.

Over the years, the Troop – with the assistance of the Historical Village and other clubs, has progressed from a display-oriented Troop to a Museum based organisation – with links to other societies & groups.
The Troop also established an Aviation Museum from artefacts and memorabilia collected, which is now housed within and managed by the Caboolture Historical Museum.

Visit our Museum

Great fun for a family day out! The Caboolture Historical Village is only two kilometres north of the Caboolture Central Business District. There is plenty of parking both in front of the village and to the rear in a large paddock. There is a free shuttle bus that can be booked by phoning the Village and will pick up passengers from the Caboolture Railway Station. Because of the size of the Village it is recommended that at least three hours is taken to really enjoy the collection and grounds. A good inspection of the Military Museum and the Aviation Museum will take around one hour. If you would like one of our volunteers to be in attendance when you visit, please call our curator Keith on 0408780624.

Group Visits:

Ideal for schools and social groups, a visit to the historical village and our museum is a terrific day out. We have enjoyed the company of many social outings from Probis, Rotary, Lions and the Caboolture and Redcliffe RSLs. Call our curator Keith 0408780624 and he will give you details on how to arrange.
